The Daily Catch
AI-curated news companion that turns information overload into five essential stories to help people stay informed without endless scrolling.

The problem
People want to stay informed but lack a sustainable way to do it—news apps are designed to maximize screen time, algorithms prioritize engagement over understanding, and without a curated approach it's easy to either doomscroll for hours or miss what actually matters.
The solution
The Daily Catch solves this by using AI to curate the news that matters most—turning the day's biggest stories into five concise reads delivered in under two minutes, with clear context and zero infinite scroll, so staying informed fits naturally into any routine without requiring constant attention or willpower.
Visual Directions
We explored three visual directions ranging from bold editorial to clean and minimal. The final direction—a raw, post-digital aesthetic with bitmap imagery, pixel textures, and a retro-experimental feel—was the highest voted option because it best reflected The Daily Catch's ethos of cutting through the noise, making the experience feel unfiltered and intentional rather than algorithmically polished.

Key Features
The Daily Catch brings together personalized curation, structured clarity, and flexible depth through a set of AI-powered features. From a tailored feed built on your interests to a three-layer story format—what happened, why it matters, and how it affects you—plus quick and deep reading modes, the experience helps users stay meaningfully informed in under two minutes a day.
Onboarding
The onboarding flow is an AI-driven questionnaire that captures each user's life stage, topic interests, and personal motivation for staying informed to build a news feed tailored to their world.
Newsfeed
Each day, The Daily Catch delivers exactly five stories from the past 24–48 hours—featuring one major headline and at least one from the user's chosen topics—curated to be finished in about two minutes.
News stories
Every story is broken down into three layers—what happened, why it matters, and how it affects you—giving readers instant context without the guesswork. Users can toggle between quick mode for a fast scan or deep mode for a fuller picture.
News, Reimagined.
The Daily Catch reimagines staying informed as a curated, personal experience rather than an endless scroll. By combining AI-driven curation with structured storytelling and intentional design, it empowers people to understand the news that matters most while building a sustainable daily habit that respects their time and attention.
